Your first agent task

Install Studio, connect a project, and take an agent task through to a change you can review.

1. Start with your workspace

Download a desktop release from the Dovo Studio repository. Studio is a client of a runtime on your computer or server. That host owns project files, credentials, agent sessions, Git operations, and task history.

Start with your local computer. A remote runtime is useful when work needs to continue on a separate machine, but it is not required to explore the app.

2. Prepare an agent on the host

Choose a provider you already use, such as Codex, Claude, or OpenCode. Install and authenticate its required tooling on the runtime computer. Studio’s integration does not replace the provider’s own setup or credentials.

Configure the provider and model in Studio. Verify the executable path and host environment first, especially when a desktop app does not inherit your shell’s PATH.

3. Add a project and a concrete task

Connect a repository or project directory on that runtime. Use the existing checkout for work you want to keep together, or a separate worktree to isolate a Git task.

  • Describe the outcome, the relevant behavior, and what counts as done.
  • Select the agent, model, and permission policy for this task.
  • Keep the first task small enough to inspect: a focused bug fix or one complete UI change.

4. Follow the work and review the result

The conversation shows streamed responses, tool activity, questions, and approvals. Answer product questions and use follow-ups to steer the work. Open the changes view to inspect the diff.

Check the relevant tests and run the product before accepting the result. A completed agent response is the start of your review, not evidence that every requirement has been verified.
