Privacy policy
Dict8 is provided by Dovocode. Questions about privacy or your data can be sent to dominic@dovocode.com.
Your recordings stay under your control
Dict8 records audio when you start a recording. Audio, transcripts, dictionary entries, settings, processing reports, and activity history are stored in the app on your device. Watch recordings transfer to your paired iPhone and are removed from the Watch after the iPhone confirms receipt. Dict8 does not operate a cloud recording service and does not send your recordings to Dovocode.
On-device processing
Speech recognition runs on your iPhone or iPad using models bundled with Dict8. Optional transcript cleanup and reminder detection use Apple's on-device Foundation Models on supported devices with Apple Intelligence enabled. Dict8 does not send recordings or transcripts to an external AI service. AI-generated text can contain mistakes; review it before relying on it.
Sharing and webhooks
You can share audio, text, or a processing report using the system share sheet. You can also configure a webhook and choose to send recordings manually or automatically. Automatic webhook delivery is off by default. Depending on your selected mode, the recipient receives audio, transcripts (including the original text), recording identifiers, dates, duration, and recording source. Processing reports can include recognized words, rejected edits, and dictionary terms.
The webhook operator or app you share with handles that information under its own policies. Background uploads can continue when Dict8 is not open and can follow the recipient server's redirects. Choose a destination you trust. HTTPS encrypts network traffic; HTTP does not. Webhook bearer tokens are stored in this device's Keychain.
Apple Reminders and permissions
Microphone access is needed to record. Reminders access is optional and is requested when you connect Apple Reminders. Dict8 reads reminder lists and checks existing reminders to avoid duplicates, and writes the tasks you choose to save. If automatic saving is enabled, detected tasks can be saved without reviewing each one. Reminders may sync through the accounts you configured with Apple. Local network access is used only when your chosen webhook requires it. You can change these permissions in your device's Settings.
Retention and deletion
You can delete a recording and its transcript from its detail screen. Activity history is stored separately and remains after individual recordings are deleted. Deleting a recording does not remove reminders, exported files, or copies already delivered to another service. Manage those copies in the receiving app or service. Remove a saved webhook token by clearing its field and saving Dict8 Settings. Deleting the app removes its local app-container data; device Keychain items can remain until explicitly removed. Your device's backup settings may include app data in an Apple-managed or computer backup. Manage and delete those backups through Apple or your computer.
No advertising or tracking
Dict8 includes no advertising SDK, analytics service, tracking identifier, or account system. Dovocode does not collect recordings, transcripts, or usage events through the app. Apple may separately process App Store, device, or diagnostic information under your Apple settings and Apple's privacy policy.
Support
If you email Dovocode, we receive the contact information and content you choose to include so we can answer your request. Do not include private recordings, credentials, or processing reports unless you intend to share them. Support correspondence is retained only as needed to handle the request and applicable obligations. Contact dominic@dovocode.com to ask about or request deletion of support correspondence.
